Paula and I became scuba certified in December 1993.

It is our goal to dive the "Caribbean Big 5 (*)".

1994 - Florida Keys - Our first dive trip on our own.  This is the best place for new divers, the water is warn, visibility is very good and most of the dives are shallow, 35 to 45 feet.

1995 - *We sailed the Bahamas on the live aboard "Nekton Pilot".  This was our first diving experience outside the US. We dove blue holes in the Cay Sal Banks. A great trip for diving and eating.

1996 - *Bonaire is known for its shore diving.   We rented a mini van and dove a large number of the marked shore dives.  Visit the grocery store in town and buy a meat pie and soda for lunch.

1997 - *Belize has the second largest coral reef in the world.  We sailed the reef on the "Rembrandt Van Ryan" for a week.   Diving the big blue hole is a must.   Paula got to pet a hawksbill turtle.  Add a couple of extra days to visit the Mayan ruins.

1998 - *Cozumel is a dives paradise. The reefs are healthy and the fish life is abundant.  Our goal on this trip was to see a seahorse; we got to see two. We rented a VW to tour the East side of the island and stopped at the San Francisco Beach Bar and Grill where Paula drank her first pina colada.

1998 - Texas Flower Garden (trip canceled by tropical storm 8)

1999 - *Grand Caymans
